In need for some summer reading? Check out author, speaker, social media expert, and professor Erik Qualman. The 43 year old has racked up a pretty impressive resume. After earning his B.A. in marketing from Michigan State University and an M.B.A in business from The University of Texas, Qualman put his education to use. He excelled in online marketing, bringing his expertise to companies like Cadillac, AT&T, Yahoo, and more.
Qualman took what he learned working and turned it into gold. He has churned out three books since 2011, all focusing on the ways social media in the digital age are changing the daily course of life. His second book, Socialnomics, made Amazon’s best seller list in US, Japan, UK, Canada, Portugal, Italy, China, Korea and Germany. Qualman’s books are so powerful that he accomplished the mighty feat of being voted the second most likable author in the world, only trailing behind Harry Potter creator JK Rowling.
Helping people learn how to take charge of technology utilize it to become their best is a goal Qualman never stops trying to reach. He uses public speaking engagements to reach wide audiences. Qualman has spoken in over 44 countries, to clients like Chase, Disney, M&Ms, Starbucks, and countless others. He is redefining what it means to use the internet.
Making his message accessible to everyone is important to Qualman. Practicing what he preaches, he utilizes social media like Twitter to help spread his message. He has 103K followers and growing. He writes a personal blog, giving tips from subjects like cyber bullying to looking appealing on digital video. He writes articles for different online publications, is featured in Youtube videos, and has been interviewed by many.
Qualman’s intense dedication to his work has earned him many prestigious titles. His book What Happens in Vegas Stays on Youtube is nominated for the 2015 Pulitzer Prize. Fast Company has listed him as a Top 100 Digital Influencer.
