Dr. Alveda King is the niece of one of the most famous civil rights activists in history, Martin Luther King, Jr. However, over the years, she has made a name for herself. As a graduate of Central Michigan University, King went on to represent the 28th District in the Georgia House of Representatives from 1979-1981. Since then, she has written six bestselling books and become a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She experienced the Civil Rights Movement first hand, having had her own home bombed during civil rights protests. She is also a former college professor, mentor, stage and screen actress and has been elected to sit on numerous boards.
Currently, Dr. Alveda King runs King for America, which is a faith based organization whose purpose is to enrich the lives of people spiritually.
