June is Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Month. It is celebrated each year to honor the 1969 Stonewall riots in Manhattan, which were the tipping point for the Gay Liberation Movement in the U.S. We’ve come a long way in this country in terms of rights for the LGBT community. Same-sex marriage is legal in six states as well as the District of Columbia and President Barack Obama recently vocalized his support for gay marriage.
