Angela Maiers

Angela Maiers is a globally recognized keynote speaker, author, educator, and advisor whose life’s work is centered on the science and practice of mattering. For more than three decades, she has challenged individuals and organizations to understand that believing we matter, and acting as if others do, is not a soft sentiment. It is a condition for learning, leadership, motivation, innovation, well being, and meaningful performance.

Angela began her career as an educator, teaching learners from elementary school through graduate school. Her academic background in education, literacy, leadership, linguistics, and neuroscience gave her a distinctive lens into how people learn, communicate, develop identity, and find the courage to contribute. She went on to advise schools, companies, nonprofits, government organizations, and military leaders around the world.

In 2011, Angela delivered her TEDxDesMoines talk, You Matter. Its message became a rallying cry and helped catalyze Choose2Matter, a global movement that invites people to recognize their worth, identify their gifts, and use them in service of something larger than themselves. Through Choose2Matter, Angela has worked with young people and adults to transform ideas into social enterprises, community initiatives, and real world change.

Her work has never been more relevant. Artificial intelligence is rapidly changing how people learn, work, create, and make decisions. Yet the central challenges confronting schools and organizations remain deeply human: disengagement, burnout, distrust, loneliness, attention, identity, and the fear of becoming replaceable. Angela brings these conversations together. She helps leaders understand that AI can accelerate output, but it cannot create identity, judgment, courage, trust, or the belief that our contribution matters.

Angela is the author of multiple books, including Classroom Habitudes, The Passion Driven Classroom, Liberating Genius, Genius Matters, and M is for Mattering. Her work has been shared across global media and professional communities, and she has collaborated with leaders and organizations in education, technology, business, government, nonprofit, and military contexts.
Onstage, Angela combines unforgettable stories, accessible research, bold questions, and practical tools. Audiences do not simply leave inspired. They leave seeing themselves, their people, and their responsibilities differently. Her message is both timeless and urgently current: artificial intelligence is changing what we can do. Mattering will determine who we become.
