Ann McMullan

Ann McMullan is the founder and lead consultant of her firm, Ann McMullan Education Consultant, based in Los Angeles, CA. Ann serves education leaders, teachers, non-profits and firms doing business with schools and school districts to assist with leadership and strategic planning targeted to making learning relevant for all students.

Ann facilitates leadership workshops, both face to face and via webinars. She also writes for journals and newsletters, including, eSchoolNews, EdNET Insight, Scholastic eduPulse, and CoSN. Ann’s public speaking engagements include international, national and state conference workshops, keynote and breakout sessions, as well as panel presentations on leading the transformation of learning and teaching to meet the needs of today’s students, teachers and administrators. Ann is a Senior Fellow with the Center for Digital Education.

A 34-year veteran educator, Ann spent 18 years as an innovative social studies teacher, followed by 16 years as a school district administrator. In that role, she led the visioning, planning and effective implementation of strategies and tools for digital learning in Klein ISD, a school district with 50,000 students and 6,000 employees located outside Houston, Texas. Klein ISD has earned a national reputation as a leader in maximizing technology tools to improve learning for all students. Ann concluded her work in Klein ISD as the Executive Director for Educational Technology prior to her family’s move to Los Angeles in 2013. During her time in Texas Ann also served as the co-chair of the Texas Educational Technology Advisory Committee which developed and produced the Texas Long Range Plan for Technology, 2006-2020.

Because Ann felt that the work she had been doing in leading change in education systems to meet the needs of today’s students was still urgent and relevant, soon after her move to Los Angeles, she started her own independent education consulting firm in the fall of 2013. Today Ann works nationally and internationally as a speaker, writer and consultant, focused on leadership, visioning and planning. In September 2016 Ann co-authored and published Life Lessons in Leadership: The Way of the Wallaby, which is available on, Barnes& and Follett

Ann currently serves as a member of the local board of Power My Learning Los Angeles. Power My Learning is a national education nonprofit that helps students in low-income communities – together with their teachers and families – harness the power of digital learning to improve educational outcomes. Ann also serves on the Project Tomorrow Advisory Council and the Girls Thinking Global Advisory Board.
