Born in Livingston, New Jersey, to a Jewish father and Mormon mother, Chelsea Handler is the youngest of six children…All good material for a career in comedy.
As a successful comedienne, Chelsea Handler has performed stand-up at venues and festivals throughout the country including the Montreal Comedy Festival, as well as the HBO Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Chelsea Handler also performed her stand-up for Comedy Central’s Premium Blend and The Tonight Show With Jay Leno, the latter of which led to work as a recurring correspondent on the show.
Chelsea Handler was the star of Oxygen’s Girls Behaving Badly for its first four seasons, which is now syndicated in over 90 markets. She has starred in several independent films, including National Lampoon’s Cattle Call, and has made guest star appearances on shows such as Comedy Central’s RENO 911, ABC’s My Wife & Kids, FOX’s The Bernie Mac Show and David E. Kelley’s The Practice. Chelsea Handler also guest starred on the new NBC show Thank God You’re Here, and appeared on the popular daytime talk show The View in February of 2007.
She has starred in several pilots, including FX’s Are You Scurred?, Showtime’s Love on the Run and VH1’s Dirty Famous. Handler can also be seen doing commentary on numerous specials for E! Entertainment.
Chelsea Handler‘s first book, entitled My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One Night Stands, published by Bloomsbury, was recently released in the U.S. and over twenty other countries. It has become a bestseller on several lists. This summer she releases her new book, Are You There Vodka? It’s Me Chelsea, published by Judith Regan.
This summer E! will release brand new episodes of Chelsea Handler‘s hit show, The Chelsea Handler Show. She has her very own Comedy Central Presents, which aired on March 9th and she will be in the upcoming film An Indie Called Steamroom.
