Martin Dube

Born and raised in the cosmopolitan French charm of Montreal, Quebec, Martin Dube began performing at the young age of 15, just a year after discovering his remarkable talent for impressions. He soon appeared on French TV shows and made live appearances all over Quebec. Martin Dube immediately impressed audiences and critics alike with his personality and vocal skills. His prodigious talents soon brought him under the tutelage of the renowned Phillipe Parent, a great mentor with whom he has been studying for over 12 years, developing in that time his astounding five-octave vocal range.

In 1996, Martin Dube began learning to speak the English language. Studying at Bishop’s University in Lennoxville, Quebec, and then at McGill University in Montreal, he had some private tutoring with Sabeha Khnan. A few months later, he decided to begin performing in English, working with former Saturday Night Live writer Joe Bodolai as his head writer and also comedy writer Barry Julien and Gary Royea. Martin Dube‘s performances became a blend of music and comedy fused together in one package, and soon the English audiences responded to his talent every bit as enthusiastically as the French audiences.

In great demand, Martin Dube began a cross-Canada tour as the opening act for Canadian rock legend Corey Hart. Soon afterward, he was discovered by Royal Caribbean Cruise lines and was named the youngest performer ever of their prestigious “Star” program. Today, Martin Dube is one of Royal Caribbean’s favorite artists, which is easy to assume from his constant encores and standing ovations.

In 1997, Martin Dube was asked to perform for the Canadian peacekeeping forces on Haiti. Greeted by the troops, Martin’s performance overseas was a success and soon his schedule began to see him performing at private shows, corporate events, and conventions such and notably at halftime arena shows for teams such as the Toronto Raptors and Houston Comets, among others.

In 1999, Martin Dube was invited to perform for the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon, sharing the stage with famous faces such as Celine Dion and Duran Duran. That same year, his talents came to the attention of Larry King, who invited him to perform at his high-profile Cardiac Foundation event and raved, “This guy is a must-see! He’s a star!”

With all of this great critical acclaim, Martin Dube started performing in Casinos across the United States and Canada. In 2000, he got the crowd cheering his name at the Nova Scotia Casino and consequently found himself coming back to perform a series of shows there for the next four years. During that time, Martin Dube would appear at casinos in Montreal, Ontario, Winnipeg and Las Vegas.

Soon Martin Dube‘s reputation reached international status and he began performing regularly in Europe. Being requested more and more, he came to the attention of Prince Rainer of Monaco, for whom Martin Dube staged a memorable command performance. At the end of 2001, he was invited to perform for three weeks at the Variete de Bale in Basle, Switzerland, and then in 2002, he became the first Canadian to headline the legendary Moulin Rouge in Paris for thirty-four consecutive shows.

In 2003, Martin Dube was selected as the feature performer at the Oscars Opening Night show with host Kate Hudson. Playing to a crowd filled with Hollywood celebrities, he was a huge success and later returned home as a proud Canadian for a cross-country theater tour where he played to packed houses and received rave reviews.

Since 2004, with the guidance of Gladys Luna, Martin Dube is now able to speak and perform in Spanish. He is eagerly looking forward to expanding his Spanish speaking audience in the upcoming years.

Martin Dube‘s star status continues to rise and he is in constant demand at conventions and private functions. His talents have taken him all over the world: Canada, the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, and Europe. He has performed his impressions at some of the world’s greatest events and in some of the world’s most prestigious theatres around the globe.
