Matt Townsley has over a dozen years of educational experience as a high school teacher and central office administrator. Through conferences, professional development and workshops, Matt has consulted with over two thousand teachers and administrators on the topics of assessment and standards-based grading. One of his articles, “Redesigning Grading-Districtwide” was published in the December 2013 issue of ASCD’s Educational Leadership. In 2012, Mr. Townsley was named Iowa’s (ITEC) K-12 Administrator of the year and in 2014, he was recognized as an ASCD Emerging Leader. He has been featured or quoted on CNN.com, public radio, the Center for Digital Education, Education Week, and a number of other media outlets.
Matt has been called on to share his experiences as a teacher and administrator through conference keynote and workshop sessions as well as for intermediate educational service agencies, public and private schools, and school leadership teams.

Matt earned a bachelor’s degree at Wartburg College, masters degree from Iowa State University, advanced studies certificate in educational leadership from the University of Northern Iowa and anticipates completing a doctorate in education in 2017.
