Tory Belleci began work on Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters in 2003, doing work behind the scenes. In the show’s second season, he was featured as part of the show’s build team.
Tory started working with Mythbusters co-host Jamie Hyneman in 1994 after graduating from San Francisco State University. Belleci worked as a stage manager and eventually moved over to the model shop. In a few years’ time, he started work at Industrial Light and Magic building models for films, including The Phantom Menace, Attack of the Clones, Matrix 2 & 3, and Van Helsing. He worked for ILM for eight years, and his models include the podracers and the Federation battleship.
When he’s not busting myths, Tory‘s busy dreaming up his own ideas for films and TV shows. One of his short films, Sand Trooper (1999), has already appeared in the Slamdance film festival and on the Sci-Fi Channel.
Tory Belleci was born and bred in Monterey, CA, right near the famous Pebble Beach golf course. He once shot a blistering 15 over par round of 87 there, and then decided special effects was more his game.
