Virginia Rojas

Dr. Virginia Rojas conducts professional training on effective programs and strategies for English learners from pre-school through grade 12 for ESL (EAL) and classroom teachers. She has worked with over 300 international schools on language education policies, programs, and professional development. Dr. Rojas specializes in developing academic English as an Additional Language (EAL), World Languages, and bilingual or dual-language instruction. She provides professional development sessions, job-embedded coaching, demonstration lessons, and conducts linguistic audits of language-in-education programs.

Dr. Rojas is a faculty member and author with ASCD and partners with the Teacher’s Training Center to offer an EAL certification for international-school teachers. Dr. Rojas authored Strategies for Success with English Language Learners: An Action Toolkit for Classroom and ESL Teachers published by ASCD and Educating English Language Learners: Connecting Language, Literacy, and Culture, ASCD DVD Series.

Dr. Rojas was inducted into the AAIE (Association for Advancement of International Education) Hall of Fame in February 2016 and semi-retired in May 2017. She continues to work with the TTC EAL certificate, provide professional development through selected organizations, and coach a few international schools with their language-education journeys.
