Emily Diehl

Emily Diehl is an Education Consultant for Houghton-Mifflin Harcourt, supporting schools and teachers in implementing strong instructional practices. Ms. Diehl is a national speaker and trainer in cultivating growth minded contexts in education at the classroom, school, and district levels.

Ms. Diehl contributes to the design and development of programs for students and to professional learning for educators. She is an author for programs for Mindset Works including Brainology®, Applied Brainology®, MindsetMaker™, and the LeaderKit. She also contributed to infusing growth mindset lessons in Houghton Mifflin Harcourt programs such as Read 180® and Math 180®. She authored a popular course on First Forward for the Fire Service, The Growth Mindset Performance Course. She is passionate about the growth mindset and how it applies to building capacity in leaders, workers, parents, and educators as well as in their students.

Ms. Diehl applies the most recent research in Social Emotional Learning, motivation and mindset to your context in instruction, assessment, leadership, culturally responsive teaching, and building relationships.

Ms. Diehl has supported educators in 41 states across this beautiful country and many businesses as well.     A lively dive into the four academic mindsets and how they affect achievement for both learners and professionals.

  • The Engagement Equation:

    What is the story that people tell themselves about what they succeed and why they fail? How do our mindsets and beliefs play a role, but also, what can we do about it as educators? In this session we will examine the four academic mindsets, including a growth mindset and how each can be cultivated to increase engagement, growth and learning so that our students and schools thrive. Examining the roles of belonging, intelligence beliefs, relevance, and motivation, participants will each leave with actionable strategies they can begin applying that day.

  • Propel Results with a Growth Mindset:

    An actionable and animated look at how we can apply growth mindset and academic mindset research at the district, school, or classroom level.

  • Growth Minded Leadership:

    What does a growth minded leader do? How might one lead schools with a growth mindset and contribute to a team in a growth-minded way? How does each of us contribute to the context of work, influencing other's mindsets and beliefs? In this session we will deeply reflect on and rehearse practices inspired by growth mindset research from Stanford, University of Pennsylvania, and University of Texas that will inspire your team to achieve great results.

  • Growth Minded Parenting:

    Four ways all parents can help their children shift to a growth mindset: eager to take on challenges, be resilient in the face of setbacks, engage in productive struggle, and achieve increasingly higher and higher.
